In this workshop you learn common mistakes and effective solutions to strengthen your performance management and appraisal skills.  You will

·         Assess your performance appraisal skills.
·         Learn to effectively communicate performance reviews.
·         Learn to aligning performance ratings with job rating factors.
·         Learn to establish clear performance goals.
·         Identify rating errors and biases when evaluating performance.
·         Identify the impact of follow-up and learn effective follow-up methods.
·         Develop a personalized Action Plan for continuing the learning and development after the workshop.

Length of Training:

This half-day instructor led workshop uses a variety of instructional methods including lecture, class discussions, and individual or small group workshop exercises.

Examine the importance of communication and your role versus the employees’ role in this process.

Group Exercise: Effectively Communicating a Performance Appraisal

Session Two: Ineffective Performance Rating Factors
Learn the importance of establishing performance-rating factors tailored for each job classification.

Group Exercise: Aligning Performance Rating Factors with Job Rating Factors.

Session Three: Goal Setting
Learn to establish clear performance goals for your employees.

Individual Exercise: Goal Setting Problems & Solutions

Session Four: Manager Biases
Discover common biases that influence the evaluation; learn tips and solutions to avoid these mistakes.

Individual Exercise: Bias Self-Evaluation

Session Five: Lack of Follow-Up
Learn specific methods to realize the maximum benefits of performance evaluations through effective follow-up.

Individual Exercise: Skill Assessment

Session Six: Wrap-Up
Review topics and workshop activities and clear the "parking lot" items.  Complete the final quiz and workshop evaluation response form.
